WHO WE ARE

We believe that everyone should find their own path in life. To sail your own course and dare to be yourself.
That is exactly what we have been doing since 1998, when we started the company that is now called Spikes & Sparrow. Our story began with a mission to make bags (and accessories) that are different. Bags that enhance the character and individuality of their owner. Bags that last a long time. And that, just like us, are independent and free.

Designed in the Netherlands. With their own signature style. With an international and timeless look. Bags that become just as unique as their owners over time.

Our story is about BAGS WITH CHARACTER

We believe that a bag should show what it is made of. Ours are made of quality leather. By this, we mean a natural and full-bodied material. Leather that, in most cases, changes over time depending on how you use the bag. 

It will shine in places where it rubs against you. The leather will crease depending on what you carry in it, and your daily life will leave its mark. Stains may appear if you spill coffee on it, or if you accidentally bump it against a wall. Perhaps the leather will eventually get scratched or discolour in the sunlight. Whatever happens to your bag: it will only become more beautiful, more personal, and more vibrant because of it. And just as unique as you.

OUR NAME

Your bag shares your life with you. It travels with you, carries your belongings, and is there when you celebrate your successes. When you are happy. When you win and life smiles upon you. But it is also there when you face problems and setbacks. When you are disappointed, sad, or angry. Our name celebrates these ups and downs in life. Because one cannot exist without the other.

FAIR PRODUCTION

Our bags are Dutch designs and are handmade in India. We only work with factories that we know and trust. Factories that do not use child labour, do not force employees to work overtime, create a clean working environment, and pay fair wages. That only use chemicals that comply with REACH and nickel-free metals. All our factories are certified according to international standards (such as BSCI or SA8000), or are in the process of obtaining such certification.

QUALITY

We want our bags to reflect your personality. They can only do that after they have spent time with you. Our products must therefore last a long time. And that is why we pay close attention to production details, such as how we sew the lining so that it does not break. Or how we attach the handles so that they do not tear, whatever you decide to carry in your bag. That is why we only use the best zippers and the strongest metal components. We continue to regularly test our leather and metal components and are constantly working on improvements.

WARRANTY

And if, despite all our efforts, a problem still occurs—which can happen from time to time because all bags are handmade—we will make sure to fix it. That is why we offer a two-year warranty on our products, parts, and craftsmanship. Assuming, of course, that you use the product as intended…
