Our story

Our story - bags with character, just like you

Your bag shares your life with you. It is with you during most of your adventures, big or small. During your setbacks and your successes, your highs and lows. And that's exactly what life is all about and what our name Spikes & Sparrow conveys: knowing how to deal with setbacks and enjoy the successes. That's where our story began in 1998 with a mission to make leather bags (and accessories) that are different. That enhance their owner's character and individuality. From design in the Netherlands to fair production and finishing with an eye for every detail.

Our leather

Responsible leather & craftsmanship

Leather is a very old and traditional material that has been used for many purposes for generations. The leather used by Spikes & Sparrow is made from skins that are a by-product of slaughter for meat consumption only. It is a natural material, which we treat in such a way that our leather bags show what they are made of as well as being long-lasting. Your bag will start to look nicer over time, partly by developing a warm patina during use, and partly by the "accidents" it catches in your company.

To make sure you can tell it's a natural product, we don't add an artificial protective layer to the leather. And because no two pieces of leather are the same as another, your bag is unique right from the start. And it will only become more so during use. We consciously choose leather from LWG-certified tanneries, so that quality goes hand in hand with more responsible leather production. Find out all about our leather.
